The Original Wind Light

PSFK pointed us to a new device, designed by a professor at Bristol University after six years of research and design which could be useful to Eskom:

"Firewinder is a wind powered light that’s both environmentally friendly and beautiful. Wind from any direction spins a small turbine that lights up LED’s along it’s edge. The device “breathes” with the changing winds, increasing it’s intensity from a dim glow to a brilliant light as speeds increase. The shape of the Firewinder was inspired by naturally occurring spirals and can be easily disassembled for recycling."

More info on the device is available on the Firewinder site.
